“Spine surgery is all we do, day in and day out. That alone helps us achieve a higher level of proficiency, work more effectively, and get better outcomes and lower complication rates.” —Michael C. Weiss, D.O., FAOAO, Chairman, Department of Surgery
Most surgical procedures at Laser Spine Institute last approximately one hour. Patients are discharged soon after their surgery, once they wake up, walk around and change back into their clothes. After patients return to their hotel, they are encouraged to walk around every couple of hours. After the patient is seen for his or her postoperative appointment, they are free to return home. They are highly encouraged to follow up with their primary care physician within two weeks to check the incision site.
Our patients can expect to have all their preoperative and postoperative and surgical needs cared for while at Laser Spine Institute. Because Laser Spine Institute operates out of an ambulatory surgical center, versus a hospital, many of the costs associated with a hospital stay are eliminated.
Our surgeons operate on only 6 to 7 percent of patients who seek treatment, as each of our patients is expertly screened to determine if they are a candidate for Laser Spine Institute’s minimally invasive procedures. Our surgeons work to create a reciprocal continuum of care that encourages patients to return to their referring physicians.
Laser Spine Institute works with a number of insurance providers to ensure that as many patients as possible can receive our expert medical care.
When conservative treatments have been exhausted, Laser Spine Institute offers a surgical option with excellent benefits. Our minimally invasive, muscle-sparing technique spreads muscle without cutting it, resulting in quicker recovery^, less surgical blood loss and less risk due to the low level of impact to the body.
